When my special needs son and I returned from a trip to Massachusetts last week my Dodge pickup broke down on the outskirts of Jacksonville, FL. Not knowing anyone to contact in the Jacksonville area I called a shop I have done business with in Brooksville, FL. They contacted Alvie's Transmission on Main Street North in Jacksonville, and told me they set it up to have my truck towed there. That's were the unbelievable southern hospitality began from Alvie and his wife. The tow truck took 3 hours to get to me so it was well after closing when we finally arrived at Alvie's Transmission. Alvie and his wife waited for us to arrive and even had us wait in the shop until my friend arrived to pick me up 3 hours away. Alvie's wife entertained my son throughout the long wait by exchanging ghosts stories. He loved it. Alvie kept my truck overnight and ran all kinds of tests on it to see what the issue was. He gave me his recommendation and had me come get the truck. When I got there I asked Alvie how much I owed him. He said NOTHING. Absolutely great folks and great southern hospitality towards a total stranger. Thank you Alvie and I highly recommend Alvies Transmission as a very special business. - Jim O.
